Day 8 |
Map is not to scale !
|
A
cool morning with a light mist turned into a sunny day by the time we
stopped for a 'cafe con leche' in Bercianos del Real Camino. The Camino
is really well marked in most places, but do not undertake this kind of
travel without a map!
|
As
we pedalled towards Leon, the headwinds returned on this flat stretch.
The Camino is more or less a straight path, and on the newly installed
'Real Camino Frances', a packed clay road follows along on the side. we
have been told this was created to allow access for emergency vehicles.
You can see the clay road on the top left picture.
|
Leon's
cathedral 'Santa Maria de la Regla' is captivating. It's a complicated
gothic structure. The 125 stained glass windows bring a glow to the interior
that is simply overwhelming.
