Day 9 |
Map is not to scale !
|
Our destination today is Castrillo de los Polvazarez, a medieval town
just a bit after Astorga. We have decided to take a break from the communal
sleeping and bathroom facilities for a night. |
We
have seen many storks nesting on top of the churches and towers, but the
one above takes the price with four nests on a single structure.
|
||
Vehicles
are warned of Camino crossings by peregrino signs like this one.
|
||
Tuesday
is market day in Astorga and the streets are packed with vendors and people.
We had planned to visit the Cathedral Santa Maria, but there is an exhibition
and the line of people snakes out into the street. It's getting late and
Susana wants to go all the way to Rabanal today, so we follow the signs
to Castrillo de los Polvazares.
|
We
meet some friendly fellow travellers and have dinner together.
