Day 5 |
Map is not to scale !
Forget
what I said about headwinds yesterday.Pedalling in the second to lowest
gear on a downhill and barely moving, that's what greeted us this morning.
The
lush green countryside reminded me a bit of Ireland, and so did the light
rain that kept misting us intermittently.
But
then the sun came out as we passed through Castanares on our way to Burgos
and it was time to shed our rain gear. After checking into the refugio,
we walked into town for a 5 course menu del dia.
Refugios are located at:
Villafranca Montes de Oca: San Juan de Ortega: Refugio in the Monastery, you will be expected to attend evening mass and there is a communal dinner. Burgos: Refugio is located in the park on the western side of town (Avenida de Jose Villacion). No kitchen, but refugio is very nice. Plans are to restore the Hospital de Rey in the near future.
