Day 4 |
Map is not to scale !
|
The
refugio in Belorado is located next to the church, for the first time
all the mattresses are taken and we get to sleep on the floor. The water
is lukewarm. But this is the most unique alberge that we stayed at, we
would choose to stop here again.
|
||
Headwinds
made every km seem like an uphill. I thought i was climbing Monte Perdon
all over again! And we missed our turn in Canas, where we should have
turned right in the middle of town, to add about 15 'bonus' km to our
route.
The cathedral in Santa Domingo de la Calzada is a must visit. According to the legend, the chicken miracle took place here, so a pair of live chickens can be found inside. A nice 'museo del peregrino' is also worth a visit. Be sure to show your pilgrims pass for a discount on the admission. |
||
We
cook spaghetti in the kitchen and share wine, food, and stories with a
group of pilgrims from France, England, and Austria at the communal table.
