Day 6 Courmayeur to Refuge Elena

Courmayeur is a picturesque little town. We wondered if the washing trough down a little side street was still in use. The main route proceeds over the 'Monte de la Saxe'. Looking at the map, we selected the valley route instead and set off towards la Palud and la Vachey. The trail meandered uphill, through forests and meadows.

Before dinner, we scampered down the mountain a ways to explore the moraine of the 'Pre de Bar' glacier. Incredible how fast we were treading without the packs!
