Day 15 |
Map is not to scale !
|
We made it !
On
the Plaza de Obradoiro in front of the cathedral.
We stopped at the refugio on Monte de Gozo to get our last stamp, then we rolled into the city. After a glass of vino tinto, we visited the Pilgrims office on the corner of the Rua do Vilar/Rua de Gelmirez to pick up our Compostelas. |
||
The
cathedral is incredible, we stand in line to place our hand on the pillar
at the back of the church, and then again to pass behind the altar in
order to kiss the statue of Saint James and visit the crypt.
The following day, we attend the pilgrims mass at noon. We see a lot of familiar faces in the church, fellow peregrinos whose path we crossed somewhere along the way. |
||
We spend our last day in Santiago de Compostela by visiting the Museo de Peregrinos (soso) and shopping for 'recuerdos'. The streets near the cathedral are lined with shops that make every pilgrims heart beat faster. From T-shirts to life size pilgrim statues in bronze, there is a perfect souvenir waiting for everyone. | ||
