Just
outside Waverly we saw this garden sculpture. Luckily for us, the homeowners
were outside and gave us permission to come into their yard to take the
picture. We left an hour later with the seeds they shared with us in our
panniers and clear and tasty water from their well in our bottles. |

Especially
on the uphills, we had opportunities to spot the many spring wildflowers
such as the 'Indian Pink' which were attracting the thousands of butterflies
in the air.

We rode
the final stretch towards Nashville on the Natchez Trace Parkway. Just
slightly rolling, but temperatures in the high 80's and not a single shade
tree along the road made for a tough ride. Franklin, Tennessee was a pleasant
surprise, charming without being cute or gaudy. We admired the many beautiful
gardens as we walked from our Bed & Breakfast Inn to the downtown
area for dinner.
Self-contained bicycle touring along this route was much fun and if you
would like more info, either look on our Camino
pages for general info about bicycle touring or email
us. |
