After crossing the Ohio river on a ferry, we cycled through the hills of western Kentucky. Looking on our map, we started gauging the distance we would cover by how many creeks we would have to cross. Downhill to a creek, then usually a fairly steep uphill, followed by a few miles of rolling country side and down to the next creek. This sequence kept repeating itself all the way to Land Between the Lakes.
Just outside Gilbertsville, we crossed the Cumberland River and enjoyed our last views of the Ohio River. we rode on to Grand Rivers and splurged on a Motel room with a whirlpool tub, ohhh, I thought I was in heaven! The roadsides in Kentucky were covered in daylilies which were just setting buds.
