Almost 2000 feet in elevation
and at times a 20% grade make this a challenging hike.The rewards are
awesome views of the mountains and a guesthouse on top. The pilgrim's church of Maria Gern is along the way and worth a stop. |

| Be sure to call ahead, because German guesthouses have a 'ruhetag', which is one day per week on which they are closed. One would hate to hike all the way to the top, contemplating the coffee and cake or cold beer, just to be disappointed by a locked door. |
